Motivation
Absent with no sick note
No reason for missing this stage in life
No answer when I phone or knock on it's door
It's presence is noted as missing
It won't help my team score
Information
Craved to discover it's place
Will it return in the near future?
Will it return when afterlife gives birth?
Has it retreated and abandoned?
Has it allocated me no worth?
Faithful
Convinced it will return
I'm sure it has become lost
I'm sure motivation is my lifelong friend
We persist; our paths amalgamate
We unite; proceed till the end

Well done way with "motivation." I am not sure that I would have been well "motivated" to write upon this subject. Sometimes I look at a prompt and just go absolutely nowhere. Your rhyming is good without being forced. Too often I find the rhyme forced.
ReplyDeleteYeah, 'motivation' struck a nerve. I understand, completely. : )
ReplyDelete"motivation absent with no sick note" - cool!
ReplyDeleteHello Andy.
ReplyDeleteI liked the flow of this poem.
My favorite were the opening lines.
Nicely done!
Thanks for visiting me today.
yes, the opening lines are killer. motivation? what's that? wah.
ReplyDeletegreat opening lines and a clever response to the perennial question/demon - well done
ReplyDeletetiny grammatical point (sorry, it distracts me) when 'it' is possessive, eg 'its place', there is no apostrophe; when 'it's' is a contraction of 'it is' there is an apostrophe. I know this is tedious and counter-intuitive, but in this case the contraction takes precedence over the possessive. (lesson over!) I think that anything which interferes with the transmission of a poem is a shame.
Best wishes
Isabel
I love the sense of optimism you hold. I have very low motivation except when it comes to writing
ReplyDeletemotivation is important.
ReplyDeletestay upbeat, be unbeatable.
Glad to see you in potluck!
I know this place "without motivation." A very well written piece on the subject.
ReplyDeleteProceed to the end...

Lack of motivation is a killer! You ask pertinent questions here... a pause for thought required.
ReplyDeleteAndy,
ReplyDeleteI liked reading this poem very much.
It describes a common ailment amongst many writers.
Nicely related.
