Loud Silence

This is my first attempt at a haiku. How have I done and does it follow all the rules of haikus because all I have seen is vague.

My ears don't hear a thing but I see
Your stern faced silence is deafening
Emotions are louder than sound

  1. You're right, there are variations, although the original and traditional form is 17 sound syllables in the 5-7-5 format, and many contain some reference to the seasons or changes. This is a good start though, playing with the senses ("stern faced silence is deafening")
